Kodak Portra 160 is one of the most beloved portrait films ever made — prized for its low contrast, warm tones and the creamy, flattering quality it brings to skin. If you’re looking for a grade that produces a balanced, warm yellow look without sacrificing subtlety, this is it.
The ANDP FilmStyles collection features two Portra grades, and understanding the difference is key to choosing the right one. Portra 160 leans into red undertones — making it the stronger choice for darker, moodier images where warmth needs to come from depth rather than brightness. Portra 400 shifts toward yellow undertones, suiting brighter, high-key images with more luminosity.
In practical terms: shoot in lower light or prefer a richer, deeper warmth — reach for the 160. Shoot in bright conditions or prefer an airy, lifted feel — reach for the 400.
